Is your body lotion making you sick without you even knowing? October 19 2014

Research shows that whatever you apply on your skin goes inside your body. Should that make you stop and rethink and verify the ingredients in ALL the makeup, creams, lotions and whatever you are applying in your skin? Well, yes if you want to feel good and full of energy again.

The majority of people apply different products full of chemicals to their skin every day without knowing that even though they are applied on top of the skin those products will eventually be absorbed into their body, potentially making them sick. These small doses of chemicals over a long period of time are silent agents that, little by little, will make their health weaker and weaker…and they will not even suspect that it is in their everyday skin care products

Today we know that the health of our gut is very important in order to feel good, look good, energized and healthy. You may be asking yourself, “What does my gut have to do with my skin care products?”   The answer is a LOT.

Unfortunately, several features of the modern lifestyle directly contribute to unhealthy gut flora:

■ Antibiotics and other medications like birth control and NSAIDs

■ Diets high in refined carbohydrates, sugar and processed foods

■ Diets low in fermentable fibers

■ Dietary toxins like wheat and industrial seed oils that cause leaky gut

■ Chronic stress

■ Chronic infections

As I wrote at the beginning, what you apply on your skin goes inside your body…. So you have to ask yourself after reading the ingredients on your skin care products … What are all those chemicals doing inside my body and then …if you have time to do research on some of them, you will be alarmed at the side effects they have.

I will give a simple example. Ask yourself … how are the majority of the creams and lotions thickened? Some common types include Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Carnauba Wax and Stearic acid among others.

If we choose the Cetyl alcohol for example you will learn that cetyl is obtained from other sources of fats such as petroleum, palm, coconut or vegetable oil and that is the reason why the majority of skincare formulas may cause outbreak or dryness on your own skin.

Surprised so far? Take one by one the ingredient list on your products and read a little about them. You’ll be amazed when you finish researching their side effects. You may wonder how you are still alive and maybe lucky enough not sick yet after all these years of using chemicals.

Another example is gluten, while women with acne caused by menses-related hormone imbalance are a familiar sight; another culprit is all too common: gluten, and the havoc it wreaks on the gut that, in turn, affects the skin in very different ways like eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, etc.

Let's start with a brief primer on basics of this tricky offender. Gluten is a protein in wheat and other grains (oats, barley, rye, spelt) that makes bread dough sticky. It's also in a number of places you wouldn't expect: imitation meats, soy sauce, ketchup and ice cream, among others.

Because of its viscosity, it's also added to cosmetics, toothpaste, lotions, creams, shampoos, conditioners, etc. You can avoid it by reading and being aware of the ingredients on every product you put in or on your body.

Do not let the industry fool you. You are the master of your body. Start making the choice right now. Clean your cabinets of the toxic ingredients that are making you feel sick and tired and load them up with healthy Organic, All-Natural, non-toxic products. Take your health responsibility in your hands.

 To your Health,
